National Restaurant Association
The organization
The world's largest foodservice trade association, whose ServSafe programme certifies food-safety professionals across the industry. Miro led major portions of its Business Transformation 3 programme, modernizing a legacy global training and certification ecosystem.
The challenge
A learner could buy a course in one system, take it in another, and hold a certificate in a third. The programme's objective was deceptively simple to state and hard to build: one login, one cart, and an integrated certification journey, without losing years of certification history.
What I delivered
A comprehensive rebuild of the ServSafe web and commerce experience around a single account and a shared shopping cart across previously separate products.
- Unified the account experience across ServSafe product lines.
- Delivered a shared cart spanning Food Manager, Food Handler, Alcohol, Allergens, and Workplace products.
- Coordinated the commerce workstream against the identity and data workstreams.
Reconstruction of the online course and certification experience into a secure internal environment, covering course delivery, exams, scores, and credential issuance.
The supplied source associates the learning platform with a third-party vendor build. That relationship is recorded as recollection rather than verified fact.
The identity layer that made 'one login' real: a single credential carrying a learner across commerce, coursework, examination, and certificate access.
Consolidation and migration of product, customer, and transaction data into a cloud solution as the legacy commerce systems were retired.
Migration of course, exam, and historical certification-score records, the data a certified professional depends on to prove they hold a valid credential.
The operational workflows behind certification delivery: instructor and proctor access, exam administration, score handling, and classroom resources across domestic and international programmes.
Coordinating delivery vendors across time zones while acting as Scrum Master on key workstreams, keeping dependencies between commerce, data, identity, and learning visible.
Introduced and improved the programme's operating discipline: RAID logs, weekly stand-ups, Microsoft Project adoption, training, governance, and change-management practice.
